Ether Music was the first major accomplishment of my thermin adventures. Going beyond youtube, I gave lectures, performed, and had a wonderful time with fascinating musicians from around the world! The workshops, and performances tookplace in Asheville, North Carolina at The Orange Peel.
Above, and right: I'm seen here performing on the second night of concerts which featured classical works. Here, I performed "The Swan" on a theremin belonging to Randy George.
Above: I'm playing Phil Neidlinger's RCA theremin replica.
Below: I'm seen here, giving a lecture on an adaptive technique for playing non-linear theremins. (theremins, of which notes are not evenly spaced)
Below: Phil Neidlinger trying the new technique as I observe.

On the third night of concerts, a theremin orchestra performed under the artful hand of Lydia Kavina. The work was an original composition of hers.
Above, right, and below: I'm seen here rehearsing, and performing with the theremin orchestra.

Performing with the theremin orchestra was one of the most exciting things I've ever done. With only two rehearsals, Lydia Kavina very artistically painted with sound, a wonderful sequence of abstract, as well as familiar mental images, using several styles of musuc from different genres. It was as if she, herself was playing all of our theremins as she pointed to each player as they were to perform their parts. It was an awesome, and unforgetable experience to have performed with so many of the worlds finest thereminists right in the same town where many of our instruments were made.
Personal thoughts on Theremin Orchestra
Above. Phil Niedlinger (left), and Thomas Grillo (right), compare aerial fingering techniques at the brunch and closing activities. In the far right distance, is Daniel Burns, the maker of Burns theremins.
Above: Randy George is showing off his hand worn control device which he uses to control his computer. Behind him at far left, is Thomas Grillo looking on intently.
